Sefcovic invites Russia, Ukraine for gas talks in Brussels in Jan

BRUSSELS, Dec 17 (PRIME) -- The European Commission’s Vice President for Energy Union Maros Sefcovic has invited Russia and Ukraine to Brussels in January 2019 for the next round of trilateral gas talks, he said on his Twitter blog on December 15.

“Have invited Ukraine and Russia to Brussels for the next round of trilateral gas talks at a political level in January. Expect that commercial entities will also attend. Important to build on the positive momentum created in July,” he said.

In 2015, Ukraine’s state energy holding Naftogaz Ukrainy stopped gas purchases from Russia in the wake of serious worsening of political relations.
